The opportunity
The Project Manager will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and responsible for the execution of TC’s methane emissions reduction program for Canadian Mainline Gas Compression assets.  Project performance will be measured on the ability to deliver projects on schedule, within budget and in compliance with TC Energy project delivery standards.  Reporting to the Regional Asset Reliability Manager, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the management of the leak detection and repair (LDAR) program in the Central Region.

 

You will work closely with other groups and leads from Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Compliance and other internal/external stakeholders to plan, organize and execute equipment repairs, replacements and upgrades to meet regulatory emissions targets.  Your strong technical, project management, organizational, and communication skills will help develop the knowledge of the systems, processes and tools required to plan and execute the program in the region.

 

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to develop and execute project scopes, budgets, execution plans, schedules, resource requirements, permit applications, commissioning plans, regulatory requirements, drawing modifications, close-out of punch list items
  • Act as the single point of contact for regional leak detection and repair issues; liaise with Regional Asset Reliability Specialists and Engineering teams on issue escalation and lead/coordinate the management of change process on technical issues
  • Participate in the planning and scheduling of leak detection surveys across the region
  • Lead post-leak survey triage reviews and assignment of repair work scope to field teams
  • Develop or coordinate investment valuations, cost estimates, decision summaries, risk analyses, conceptual plans, preliminary and detailed design work
  • Monitor overall progress of repair completions and success of the emissions reduction program
  • Provide leadership and influence in the continuous development of project management tools and processes in the region and across Canada Gas
  • In addition, the Project Manager may support the General Plant Maintenance Capital program by planning, initiating and leading facility maintenance projects such as plant modifications, upgrades and enhancements

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering, College diploma in Engineering Technology; or equivalent
  • 8 years of progressive relevant field experience in the natural gas and/or oil industry (i.e. installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with project management principles and practices
  • Understanding of mechanical discipline drawings (including P&IDs, piping isometrics, general arrangements, mechanical system drawings, civil drawings, etc.)
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as have good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to exercise leadership without formal authority and have demonstrated leadership skills for delegation, negotiation, influencing, and consensus building to coordinate work to meet objectives
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of PC-based computer systems and software applications with an emphasis on SAP and MS Office

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized certificate in Project Management (PMP, Prince2, etc.)
  • Innovative, self-motivated, professional, and able to work without being under direct supervision and contribute in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders
