The opportunity


Our USGO East Operations team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Maine to support the operation, maintenance, testing and inspection of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Windham and the surrounding area.


We are seeking a skilled Pipeline Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems, gas measurement facilities and other related equipment. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

What you’ll do


  • Perform pipeline maintenance activities such as: patrol pipeline, lubricate valves, install cathodic protection systems and anodes, clear right-of-way and monitor heaters
  • Locate and mark pipelines through the state one call system
  • Communicate with contractors, the general public, landowners and government agencies relative to gas operations
  • Operate company truck to perform operation and maintenance duties
  • Perform on-site inspections, processing and documentation of third-party encroachments on pipeline easements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties for company facilities
  • Periodically assist in leak surveys
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new notifications, etc. in SAP
  • Operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipment
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant natural gas or energy industry experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Associates degree to include courses in electronics, instrumentation or mechanics
  • Experience in locating and marking pipeline
  • Mechanical knowledge, skills and experience
  • NACE certification(s)
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting impressed cathodic protection ground bed systems
  • Experience interpreting and modifying drawings and alignment sheets


This position requires candidates to


  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Carry a cell phone and work a rotating on-call schedule
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights and in adverse weather conditions
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home


Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.  Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.
