The Opportunity

Our Well Engineering & Technology team is seeking a Project Controls Analyst who has knowledge and expertise in cost management and procurement practices. Position specific skills will be developed through mentoring and task assignments.  The successful candidate will have an outstanding ability to track and report on costs relative to capital and expense projects, support Supply Chain Management practices, and work effectively in a team environment.

 

**This position can also be located in Charleston, WV  


What you’ll do

  • Facilitate and support the preparation, roll-up, analysis, and review of annual departmental operating budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Monitor, analyze, reconcile, and prepare detailed and summary cost reports and presentations, including compiling variance explanations and cost performance results by line of business and budget accountability area
  • Obtain project budget input from engineers and management and lead in preparing Decision Summaries and other budgetary support documents
  • Provide active cost management reporting and governance of projects/programs from initiation to completion
  • Provide input to change management documents to govern project costs and objective variances
  • Update, maintain and analyze project commitments, cost flow, and expenditures while also supporting monitoring, reviewing and analysis of cost, schedule, earned value and associated reporting;
  • Track, report and analyze project/program performance and costs from initiation to completion. Establish and report project/program metrics and benchmarks. Assess and document trends and risks of the project/ program as related to costs/schedule;
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting (weekly/monthly). Collaborate and communicate with internal (Project Managers, engineers, analysts) and external stakeholders (vendors) throughout the project cycle to ensure transparency of project costs and trends;
  • Provide other administrative support to management or a team, which could include files maintenance of records and documents, assistance with work requisitions, purchase orders, invoice handling, and other assistance;
  • Other tasks as required.

 

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduation from a technical college program
  • Two (2) or more years related experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency with SAP
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Project scheduling experience
  • Procurement experience

 

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record;
  • Successfully complete a pre- employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
