The opportunity

Our Liquids field operations team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business. We are seeking a pipeline technician who is a self-motivating team player. In this role the successful candidate will apply skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on pipeline valves, actuators, gearboxes, and other related components. With your skills and expertise, you will perform One-Call line locates, assist with line crossings, encroachment issues, Agreement reviews and providing feedback to our crossings department, pipeline isolations, flooding and draining of assets general Right of Way (ROW) maintenance activities, perform excavations, and other tasks as required.

 

As the Pipeline Technician, you will operate and maintain oil pipelines facilities and auxiliary equipment in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with TC Energy and regulatory requirements and may be required to perform tasks from other disciplines.

 

What you'll do

  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy’s Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
  • Complete One-Call responsibilities in regard to locating and protecting TC Energy Assets
  • Complete basic "as built" prints and update related documentation with respect to "One Call" and pipeline related schematics
  • Service and troubleshoot valve, actuator and gearbox issues (Valvitalia , EIM , Rotork , General, Cameron)
  • Identify and respond/document encroachment issues
  • Assist with TC Energy In-line inspection tool program (Cleaning tools, Smart balls, Eclipse tools)
  • Review and approved isolation and drain down procedure
  • Assist with pipelines isolations and liquid movement duties
  • Coordinate excavations at Novice, Intermediate and Experienced levels
  • Responsible to lead contract work teams by preforming work authorization/job safety analysis by providing active control duties related to contractors along with other electronic documentation
  • Assist building and review of TC Energy Site specific instrctions as well as provide feedback on TC Energy Operating Procedure (TOP’S)

 

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
  • Technical trade qualification (i.e. Millwright (Industrial Mechanic), Pipefitter, etc.)
  • Motor operated valve actuator experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Highly motivated and disciplined with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work in a geographically dispersed team environment
  • Able to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, includes ensuring proper handling and disposition of hazardous waste
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Competent using equipment applicable to the maintenance of pipeline systems
  • Current with technological advances in the oil pipeline field
  • Able to use computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, maintenance management

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Other industry related certification and/or related pipeline/facility, construction/maintenance, and industry experience
  • Technical trade qualification (i.e. Millwright (Industrial Mechanic), Pipefitter, etc.)
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System and SAP experience
  • Experience with the interpretation of technical reference documents
  • Motor operated valve experience

 

Additional role requirements

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to hazardous conditions including adverse weather, heights, lifting, and cramped conditions
  • Be available for overtime, extended work hours, and call-outs as needed
  • Participate in an On-call rotation
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • This position is overtime eligible, part of an on-call rotation and may be requested to provide support during emergency response incidents or extended days due to operational needs, as required.

 

The regular work schedule will be:

Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours/day; Friday is an 8 hour/day

Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours/day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

 
*This position is overtime eligible, part of an on-call rotation and may be requested to provide support during emergency response incidents or extended days due to operational needs, as required.
*Flying in helicopters is a requirement.
