General Information

Reports to the Gas Marketing Director, the main mission as Gas Commercial & Strategy Leader is: to assess the pricing strategy, ensuring revenue generation through an efficient marketing strategy. To actively manage commodity risks linked to the dynamics of a sales portfolio, meaning operate and optimize costing, forecasting, sourcing and hedging strategies to mitigate risk exposure, within a defined mandate. Strong customer-centricity approach and negotiation skills with sales energy contract are required.

 

The position requires the individual to work directly with B2B customers / power plants, the KAM’s, and the Gas Scheduler to coordinate the delivery of natural gas and minimize imbalance costs and penalties.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide the Commercial Entity with a deep knowledge of its gas sales portfolios: their underlying drivers, dynamics and risks;
  • Based on this knowledge, optimally structure the portfolio representation to monitor and clearly report on operational performance and risk drivers;
  • Closely follow portfolio evolution and adjust continuously and accurately its representation (evolution of the commercial position, and outside impact on short term consumption forecasts);
  • Define, design and implement various strategies to reduce, internalize or externalize risks, towards and in collaboration with stakeholders (Marketing, other BUs);
  • Monitor and explain portfolio results and performance;
  • Identification of and contact initiation with new customers, generation of additional leads and opportunities;
  • Developing, maintaining & reporting on customer retention strategy in line with objectives;
  • Define a pricing strategy and value proposition (standard and non-standard offers) according to the client’s needs;
  • Negotiate, manage and renew customer contracts to deliver margin in line with objectives;
  • Be a customer-centric and proactive sales resource responsible for driving account strategy and navigating relationships (internal & external) required for commercial success;
  • Able to challenge models, processes & tools to propose improvement;
  • Actively follow up implementation.

 

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, management or equivalent.
  • Master is desirable.
  • Previous experience in several aspects of sales portfolio management, trading, marketing, finance or similar areas.
  • In-depth understanding of the trading and portfolio & risk management business.
  • Full understanding of commodity pricing and fundamentals in Mexico.
  • High level of analytical thinking combined with a hands-on approach.
  • Willing to work in a front position with direct impact on group P&L.
  • Highly resilient.
  • Result-oriented, practical thinker.
  • Rigorous and accurate.
  • Creative and act as true initiative-taking entrepreneur.
  • Dynamic and flexible team worker.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
