The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Mexico, Operations, Engineering and Projects, the Director, will be accountable for leadership of a team of asset integrity, engineering, safety, security, emergency management and quality employees to support the Mexico Business Unit achieve its vision to be Mexico’s premier energy infrastructure company now and in the future. We accomplish this through providing the energy Mexicans need every day to enable social, economic and environmental prosperity.
The Director will be key members of Mexico Leadership team working closely with Operations, Projects and Commercial teams along with other internal and external stakeholders to support overall asset life cycle optimization through programs, planning and execution. The Director will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible to develop, implement, monitor and improve the programs for asset integrity, safety, security, emergency management and quality for the Mexico business unit. 
The Director will be accountable to ensure both development, construction, operation and deactivation of TC Energy's Mexico pipeline systems meets the requirements of those programs. Program performance will be measured on the ability to deliver safely, security, quality, compliance, effectiveness of all programs, standards, specification, policies and procedures within the Mexico Business Unit. The Director will build a team that partners with our Technical Center to ensure,
in line with TC Energy’s corporate requirements, programs achieve safety, quality and compliance with best-in-class results over the life cycle of our assets. This position will require travel to various company locations for site visits and meetings. Key Performance Metrics are, first and foremost, safety and quality, as well as customer requirements, compliance and cost performance against agreed to targets. Stakeholder engagement and management will also be key success factors.

 

Responsibilities:

•    Responsible for governance of Mexico Business Unit ensuring business objectives are met through Program effectiveness for Engineering, Asset Integrity, Quality, Safety, Security and Emergency Management
•    Integration planning single source of truth and responsible for prioritization of work across the portfolio including cost management and portfolio reporting 
•    Collaboration with Commercial Operations team on planned system outages, impacts to utilization, reliability and customers
•    Drive alignment and consistency for Mexico Business Unit regarding Engineering, Safety, Security and Quality and Asset Integrity
•    Proactively remove barriers to collaboration and to be customer centric and agile in the services we provide
•    Collaboration with projects, commercial, land, permits and community and operations teams, shared service departments including, engineering, legal, and other internal and external stakeholders 
•    Understand customers’ needs and collaborate to develop suitable innovative solutions 
•    Key role in maintaining our commercial competitiveness in the market as we continue to grow our pipeline footprint in Mexico
•    Responsible for Engineering, Asset Integrity, Safety Program Management 
•    Responsible for Mexico safety and emergency management strategy 
•    Ensure succession and leadership development

Minimum Qualification

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) 
•    15+ years progressive experience in relevant roles (core experience in engineering and asset integrity, not only project management )
•    Bilingual candidates, English and Spanish, Fluent English is requirement. 
•    Proven track record of building strong teams and building a culture of safety, quality and respectful workplace and holding people accountable 
•    Commercial and business acumen as it relates to the budgeting, scheduling and forecasting of programs Demonstrated ability to form effective business relationships with third party engineering, key suppliers and construction companies. 
•    Demonstrated ability to lead integrated teams with multiple partners / stakeholders
