The opportunity

Our US Land Services West Team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and to support landowner relationships along the Bison Pipeline, Northern Border Pipeline and Keystone Pipeline systems, through Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.

 

We are seeking a seasoned Land Representative to support internal customers such as Operations, Engineering Services and Project Management in the acquisition of surface rights and land access agreements and maintaining landowner relations.

 

What you’ll do

  • Negotiate agreements and positions with landowners, including state agencies, which reflect fair and equitable practices and will lead resolution of Land issues and landowner claims
  • Assist with Community Relations programs and to supervise and oversee third party contract land personnel
  • Work as a knowledge and practice expert with internal clients and affected parties such as landowners, landowner/industry associations and regulatory bodies, in executing public awareness/consent programs, as well as resolving land-related issues
  • Extensive vehicle travel and short stays away from home are required to service the area of responsibility

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 4 years of combined applicable academic training, certification and related experience in the oil or natural gas pipeline industry
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a directly related discipline is an asset
  • Experience in land and right of way acquisition in the pipeline industry
  • Experience in post construction land damages settlements
  • Familiar with state and federal pipeline regulations and requirements
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license

  • High level of analytical ability and strategic skills required to gather and evaluate complex information obtained from a variety of sources and to formulate recommendations
  • Leadership skills, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make decisions where only general policies and procedures are available requiring application of judgement and independent action
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and across the businesses.
  • Effective communication, writing and public speaking skills are essential
  • A strong team player, self-motivated individual with good interpersonal, organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and strong networking skills
