The opportunity


This position will report to the Manager of Facility Planning West. The Natural Gas Pipeline- Flow Engineer must possess strong analytical and computer skills to work in the Facility Planning group for a U.S. based natural gas pipeline and storage company. 

The Facility Planning group works with internal commercial, marketing, and operations groups to determine and manage firm pipeline capacity, provide operational support, and to increase system efficiency transporting natural gas on their various pipeline systems. 


What you’ll do


  • Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to evaluate daily pipeline operation and efficiency and to determine daily, monthly and annual pipeline capacity to meet customer requests
  • Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to evaluate impacts on pipeline capacity and on customers
  • Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to design new pipelines and expansion capacity projects
  • Coordinate with System Design, Operations Planning and Gas Control, Operations, and Engineering regarding growth design and incorporate changes as appropriate
  • Model, analyze and review new maintenance projects, providing input during project meetings;
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum qualifications 


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required from an ABET accredited university -- Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Exposure to fluid flow exercises and fluid dynamic concepts
  • Must be fully capable in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills are required
  • Must have the ability to organize and complete activities on multiple projects concurrently and in a timely manner 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential and will be applied in a team-oriented setting; Position interacts with engineers, analysts, commercial personnel, field personnel, and management


Preferred qualifications


  • Knowledge of gas pipeline operations
  • Hydraulic pipeline simulation software experience is preferred
  • Experience with writing macros in Excel and Access is preferred
  • Versed with understanding commercial contracts
  • Experience with writing macros in Excel and Access is a plus
