The opportunity

Our US Payroll Pension and Benefits Department is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Houston, Texas.   

 

We are seeking a Senior Benefits Consultant reporting to Manager, US Payroll, Pension & Benefits.  The position's responsibilities include providing guidance and oversight to the team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and effective administration of Pension and Benefits programs.

 

What you’ll do

  • Stay abreast of pending regulatory, tax, and other changes impacting US Pension and Benefits
  • Manage third party administrators to ensure appropriate level of service and positive employee experience
  • Lead regular annual projects such as plan audits, non-discrimination testing and regulatory filings.
  • Manage the preparation employee communications, including SPDs, employee booklets and website content.
  • Collaborate with other HR leaders in the U.S. and Canada on various cross-functional projects or initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of current and/ or new processes
  • Provide analytical support and assist with development of presentations, reports, and metrics.
  • Other tasks as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Ten (10) plus years of Human Resources related experience with focus on Pension and Benefits
  • Experience with SAP
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Strong problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with changing priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, including attention to detail
  • Advanced computer skills with strong proficiency in Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CEBS designation
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll system would be an asset
  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar case management tool would be an asset

 
*Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.

*This position will require travel across borders and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this affect.
