The opportunity

Our Project Engineering team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Houston to support the execution of engineering and design activities of projects for the US Natural Gas Project Engineering department.

We are seeking a Project Engineer who has knowledge and experience in the design and construction of such facilities as measurement/regulation, launcher/receiver, mainline valves, control systems, emergency shutdown systems, DOT regulations, electrical systems, facility piping, filtration systems, and communications. The Project Engineer will lead company and third-party engineers in the front-end engineering and design for regulated and non-regulated natural gas transmission measurement/regulation facilities and pipeline construction projects.

 

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, Facility Planning, Engineering, and Operations to define project requirements and engineering deliverables
  • Deliver project work scopes consistent with strategic initiatives across functional and regional boundaries by coordinating with Engineering Technical Services, Operations, Land, Environmental Permitting, and Project Delivery
  • Compile project decision support packages in conjunction with cross-functional Company and third- party resources, which include the following: project milestone schedule, cost estimate, scope of work, drawing package, and risk matrix
  • Interpret and develop process flow diagrams (PFD's), P&ID's, and electrical one-line drawings
  • Manage the front-end engineering and design for concurrent project opportunities of varying complexity.
  • Responsible for teamwork assignment, directing, and monitoring work efforts daily; identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately and ensuring that work is accomplished safely
  • Responsible for tracking key engineering deliverables and adjusting engineering plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers and reporting status to management and making corrective actions as needed
  • Develop detailed design specifications and drawings for installation of engine/compressor sets, measurement/regulation, gas cleaning equipment, and piping systems
  • Be experienced in both greenfield (new) facility requirements and brownfield facilities where new equipment must be integrated with existing equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Make technical decisions based on full awareness of viability, cost and other benefits
  • Provide selection and specification of new mechanical equipment on capital projects based on company standards
  • Engage with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and industry professional organizations to stay current with latest facilities design and maintenance technology and industry best practices
  • Partner with supply chain to support and leverage global service and purchasing agreements
  • Review and provide RFI construction support with oversight and verification from team leader or senior project engineer
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings across projects and programs
  • Lead the resolution of technical/engineering issues during detailed engineering, construction and commissioning
  • Lead the Project Engineering Closeout Documentation process
  • Maintain Safety as the foundation for all activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in natural gas pipeline design and interstate permitting requirements from a third-party engineering firm or operating company
  • Must possess an understanding of ROW design and routing
  • Interprets applicable codes and regulations and instructs Company and/or Industry personnel
  • Effectively manages and completes large scale projects
  • Customer focused mentality
  • Excellent analytical and communication (written, verbal, presentation and electronic) skills; able to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively, often communicating changes, complex issues and new ideas

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate should have extensive experience in natural gas pipeline design, interstate permitting requirements, and facility (meter stations, regulation station, Launcher/Receiver) design
  • Delegate and manage multiple projects simultaneously
