The opportunity

 

Reporting to the Manager, MAOP and Projects, the Engineer in this position will be responsible for Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) efforts for US Gas Operations. This includes responsibility for MAOP verification and change management, project development, and program management of any special projects associated with MAOP Projects. 
 

What you’ll do 


•    Program management of special projects associated with MAOP verification
•    Provide technical support to internal stakeholders for the review of applicable records and management of MAOP
•    Read and interpret engineering drawings, pressure test documentation, construction as-builts, and other relevant technical records
•    Implement technical and project management processes to ensure quality and consistency in the team’s engineering and technical work
•    Work in close collaboration with Projects, Finance, and Regulatory Compliance to identify, scope and estimate projects
•    Analyze complex situations leveraging strong regulatory knowledge, technical judgement, and engineering experience
•    Initiate Management of Change (MOC) process for project scope, budget, and scheduling changes to effectively mitigate risks 
•    Work closely with internal stakeholders in Technical and Operational Services, US Gas Operations field teams and management, Commercial Operations, Regulatory Compliance, and the Technical Center to ensure activities are completed collaboratively with the MAOP and Projects Team
•    Develop and participate in business/project reviews with senior management
•    Provide business acumen to evaluate different options from engineering and economic perspective and be able to articulate recommended path forward
•    Represent the MAOP and Projects Team in relevant aspects of regulatory audits
•    Provide support and mentorship to team members
•    Other tasks as required
 

Minimum Qualifications 
•    Bachelors degree in Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline is preferred
•    5 or more years of related experience
•    Broad technical background on Pipelines, including pipeline integrity, design, construction, maintenance and repair.
•    Ability to make decisions where only general policies and procedures are available requiring application engineering principles coupled with judgment and independent action
 

Preferred Qualifications 
•    Comprehensive understanding of CFR 192
•    In depth knowledge of in field activities to supporting MAOP verification
•    Professional engineering license

 

This position requires candidates to
•    Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
•    Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home

     Travel across borders and as such, the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this affect
