The opportunity

The Business Planning & Strategy team is evolving to meet the needs of our business. We have an exciting opportunity located in Houston, TX to support critical cross-functional business initiatives for the US Natural Gas (USNG) business unit, including our USNG Innovation Committee.  This committee has been created to raise the bar on innovation for our business, challenging and empowering our workforce to think boldly as we transition to the energy future.
The Business Analyst - Planning & Innovation will be responsible for supporting the coordination of our business planning and innovation efforts.  This includes administration and communication for our USNG innovation pipeline process and committee, coordination of key senior leadership deliverables, and support in the preparation of materials for leadership presentations, speaking engagements, and external stakeholder interactions.
The successful candidate will possess strong critical thinking, systems thinking, program management, analytical, organizational, and communication skills and a passion for excellence.  Collaboration will be paramount.

This role reports to the Manager of Business Planning.
What you’ll do


  • As a key support for the USNG Innovation Committee, administer the USNG innovation pipeline process within our ideas platform
  • Contribute to our culture of innovation by being genuinely curious about ideas submitted, asking good questions and working with the committee to ensure our workforce understands how to evaluate, design and implement innovative opportunities
  • Prepare regular senior leadership updates on innovation progress
  • Ensure timely communication of feedback to those submitting ideas and building business cases in the innovation pipeline
  • Support the preparation of reports and presentations for US senior management, such as our President’s Report and annual Investor Day materials
  • Assist with coordination of senior leadership deliverable reviews to ensure timely feedback and message alignment
  • Collaborate with Communications to gather and compile background information to contribute to the development of materials or responses to key issues


Minimum Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree or post-secondary education in Commerce/Business/Management
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills for presenting timely and relevant information to various levels in the organization
  • Highly organized with adaptability to changing priorities
  • Detail oriented while also considering the larger, macro environment
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint


Preferred qualifications


  • An understanding of the natural gas business
  • Proficiency with graphics design is an asset
