The opportunity 

Our Liquids field operations group is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Houston, Texas to support our Liquids Field Operations teams.


We are seeking a driven Business Analyst who has the knowledge and experience to turn data into insights through metrics reporting, visualization mechanisms, business case development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of US Field Operations, the Business Analyst will partner with the Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Financial Services, and Engineering groups to increase system efficiency and effectiveness through analytics.


This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, possess superior organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and written/verbal communication skills. The ability to handle rapidly shifting priorities and multiple projects concurrently is strongly desired.


Depending on the location of the successful candidate, this position may be filled at another location within the Liquids Operations footprint.


What you’ll do

  • Collect, analyze, and present operational data to a broad array of stakeholders
  • Track performance regarding Corporate, Business Unit, and Regional metrics/scorecards
  • Quickly and effectively use tools in the Microsoft Office suite to manipulate and report information mined from various sources
  • Organize and complete multiple work activities concurrently and in a timely manner with a high focus on accuracy
  • Comprehend and assimilate complex business processes
  • Participate in the development and implementation of data driven strategies
  • Deeply understand business processes and data needs as it relates to USLFO functional groups
  • Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for future state
  • Train for, and if required support emergency response activities through the Incident Command Structure (ICS)
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Alignment to and demonstration of TC Energy's Corporate Values of Safety, Responsibility, Collaboration, and Integrity;
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or other technical discipline. A combination of education and previous work experience may also support this requirement.
  • 6 or more years of related experience
  • High level of expertise with Microsoft programs including Access, Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to navigate and utilize operational data from various sources such as a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, navigating ambiguity, and a willingness to work in all areas required by the team;


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and expertise with CMMS systems for planned/unplanned work retrieval, specifically utilizing SAP and Excel
  • Exposure to and experience supporting emergency response activities utilizing the Incident Command Structure (ICS) with a preference to finance section chief
  • Demonstrated ability to assess continuously changing business demands and make suitable adjustments to existing plans with limited guidance
  • Strong pipeline business acumen


This position requires candidates to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, training, or emergency response which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
