The opportunity

 

Our Heartland Region Operations team is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable leader in Defiance, Ohio to provide active leadership and ensure adherence to corporate policies, practices and procedures.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Regional Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the Defiance North area facilities. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated managerial experience, coupled with a thorough understanding of natural gas transmission operations.


This individual must be a solid facilitator, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strategic decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, and written/verbal communication skills. 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Lead efforts to ensure safe operations and work to continuously improve safety for employees, the communities in which we operate, and our customers
  • Establish and monitor safety performance measures and take necessary action to improve results
  • Understand system operations and seasonal influences on operations
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for operational systems
  • Manage and implement processes to increase revenue and profitability
  • Monitor performance of assets
  • Collaborate with marketing on growth and optimization opportunities
  • Coordinate between various departments, to include: Engineering Services, Marketing, Environmental, Compliance, and Gas Control to optimize the operation of assets
  • Ensure operations and maintenance staff collaborate to optimize maintenance schedules and jointly plan facility outages to meet maintenance needs
  • Use analytical data to measure and monitor actual asset performance
  • Establish performance goals for assets
  • Optimize asset operations utilizing risk-based operational data analysis
  • Utilize profit and loss approach to extract maximum value from operating assets
  • Manage operating budget
  • Establish short and long-term action plans and optimize workforce
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Build trust with regulators/auditors through compliance with policies and procedures
  • Participate in industry and community activities
  • Act as a public relations interface for the organization
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Facilitate employee meetings
  • Other tasks as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of related experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Technical trades certificate, technical college diploma or two-year associate degree in a technical discipline
  • Knowledge of the natural gas or energy industry
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, to include: PHMSA, FERC, safety, and environmental
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

 

This position requires candidates to

 

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to include extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
