The opportunity


Our USGO Mid-America – Celestine team is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable leader in Madisonville, Kentucky to provide active leadership and ensure adherence to corporate policies, practices, and procedures.


Reporting to the Area Manager, the Operations Team Leader will ensure consistent compliance with applicable codes and regulations.  The successful individual will possess demonstrated leadership capabilities to include a proven track record of influencing and motivating core staff, line management, and contractors, resulting in positive outcomes.


This individual must be a solid facilitator, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strategic decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, and written/verbal communication skills.


Depending on the location of the successful candidate, this position may be filled in Madisonville, KY or Cottage Grove, TN.


What you’ll do


  • Perform leadership activities necessary for the effective performance of a competent, proactive, and engaged staff to include employee development, performance management, mentoring, and coaching
  • Instruct and train employees in proper work methods, practices, and safety regulations
  • Conduct/coordinate emergency response
  • Meet and coordinate activities with contractors, government agencies, landowners, vendors, and others
  • Partner with area Field Work Planner (FWP) to develop and implement work plans, shift assignments, and track completion of work
  • Monitor the activities of the operational teams to ensure schedules and standards are met safely
  • Communicate competitor activities
  • Assemble cost estimates for required resources and budgetary input
  • Meet and coordinate O&M activities and capital with customers
  • Monitor O&M and Capital project budgets and control associated costs
  • Communicate and partner with other Company personnel to coordinate the sharing of resources across the organization
  • Communicate effectively to external partners and customers
  • Ensure records are kept secured and in compliance
  • Maintain accountability for the safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operation of the facilities within the assigned asset group
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Facilitate employee meetings
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 or more years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Technical trades certificate, technical college diploma, or two-year associates degree in a technical discipline
  • Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: corrosion and pipeline, compression and gas conditioning, storage, automation and electrical, pipeline safety and mapping, measurement and regulation, operations and maintenance, construction management, permitting/compliance regulations, or project management and design
  • Demonstrated leadership experience


This position requires candidates to


  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Manage compressor, pipeline, and measurement facilities in multiple locations, striving to spend an equal amount of time with the employees located in Cottage Grove, TN and Madisonville, KY
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
