The opportunity

TC Energy has several Project Manager opportunities available. We are seeking collaborative and driven professionals with project management experience to join our Canada Gas Projects and Canada Gas Operations teams.

 

As a Project Manager within our Canada Gas organization, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and responsible for the planning and execution of projects including pipeline, compression and maintenance projects throughout Canada.  Project performance will be measured on the ability to deliver projects on schedule, within budget and in compliance with TC Energy’s project management procedures. 

 

As a Project Manager you will be a key contributor to the management of project development and implementation to achieve reliable operation and continuous improvement of all pipeline assets located within TC Energy's Canadian pipeline systems.

 

The Project Manager is an individual contributor who will work closely with other groups and leads from Project Management, Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Compliance, Legal, Land, Environment, and other internal and external stakeholders to plan, organize and execute projects. In these roles we will rely on you to provide strong technical, project management, organizational, and communication skills and to develop the knowledge of our systems, processes and tools required to plan and execute multiple projects.

 

* These positions will require travel to various company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.

 

What you’ll do

  • Supervise and manage development of projects
  • Develop project execution plans and schedules, project proposals and regulatory applications
  • Liaise with internal and external groups to understand project objectives and determine the necessary scope deliverables, cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Oversee project design and facilitate technical reviews to ensure all applicable specifications, codes, and legal, and regulatory and corporate requirements are met
  • Manage sanctioned projects during the implementation phase
  • Perform time and cost management of the project including budgets and schedules, including managing project cost change control and variance reporting of cost, scope and schedule and risk
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates on project performance metrics
  • Coordinate or direct the work of external consultants and contractors
  • Effectively collaborate with the numerous department stakeholders' and understand their expectations and expert contributions and how they can contribute to the project success
  • Optimize and align project resources in each region
  • Provide support during the construction phase in the field
  • Support emergency response activities
  • Support the development and implementation of TC Energy’s project management tools, standards and processes to support the implementation of capital and maintenance programs within Canada

 

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in a related field (e.g. Engineering or Business)
  • Six (6) or more years of related project experience with a track record of success in compression, pipeline and/or maintenance projects
  • An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices
  • Proficient in PC-based computer systems and software applications with an emphasis on SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to safety, health, the environment and quality

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be an asset
  • Eligible for Professional Engineering or Technical Designation status (P.Eng. or C.E.T.) will be an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders
  • Innovative, self-motivated, professional, and able to contribute in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships externally and internally
  • A high level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, including providing daily field support
  • Ability to influence and exercise leadership without formal authority
  • Leadership skills in delegation, negotiation, communication and consensus building to coordinate work to meet objectives
  • Ability to embrace and lead change and quickly understand new processes and related issues
