The opportunity

 

Our Liquids Field Operations team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are looking for a Manager, Field Reliability which will be based in Calgary, AB. This role reports to the Director of Liquids Field Operations. The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team of specialists and field engineers across the Canadian and U.S footprint responsible for the development and implementation of maintenance capital projects for TC Energy’s Liquids assets.

 

In addition, the successful candidate will lead the team in the long-term proactive approach to optimizing field operations and system reliability by performing data driven initiatives and collaborating with engineering to resolve problems and analyze malfunctions.  The team will also provide technical guidance and recommendations to field technicians for enhancing the reliability, integrity, availability, and efficiency of the operating assets.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to achieving reliable operation and continuous improvements to the liquids business unit.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead a team of specialists (Mechanical, Electronic, Instrumentation and Controls Technicians, Measurement, One-Call and field engineers
  • Lead the planning projects which will be executed by field operations area teams (e.g. modifications, upgrades and enhancements)
  • Work closely with engineering teams and other business partners to maximize system reliability, optimize operations and plan for growth
  • Develop and engage with other groups on investment valuations, cost estimates, schedule, resource requirements, permit applications, decision summaries, risk analyses, conceptual plans, preliminary and detailed design work, drawing modifications, execution and commissioning plans, close-out of punch list items, and training where appropriate for projects executed by field operations area teams
  • Direct the work of external consultants and contractors
  • Make decisions and communicate recommendations to management and other affected parties and facilitate efficient outcomes
  • Promote standardization within field operations regarding equipment, maintenance functions, and programs
  • Provide field engagement in support of developing capital projects
  • Facilitate collaboration between field operations and operations engineering to ensure that items are escalated properly

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering, College diploma in Engineering Technology; or equivalent 
  • 8-10 years of progressive relevant field experience in the natural gas and/or crude oil, liquids industry (i.e. installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in leading change, building high performance teams, promoting new ideas and focusing a team on common goals
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and get the most out of a broader team partnership and breakdown organizational barriers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders
  • Innovative, self-motivated, professional, and able to work without being under direct supervision and contribute in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to exercise leadership and have demonstrated leadership skills for delegation, negotiation, influencing, and consensus building to coordinate work to meet objectives

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering Designation
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate
  • SAP experience
