The opportunity


TC Energy’s EIT Program has a number of exciting opportunities for candidates available to start in May 2021.  The intention of the program is to provide broad exposure to TC Energy, to get hands-on experience and to build a rewarding career. During the program, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on building your technical competencies and soft skills through a formal training program. In addition, you’ll build great relationships through a network of experienced mentors. 

TC Energy’s EIT Program includes a rotation component and EITs will work in at least two different departments during their first three to four years at the company. Candidates who enter this program must have mobility to travel to the field for site visits or term assignments to assist with operations or special projects.

As an EIT, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with professional engineers in the following business areas:


  • Canada Natural Gas Pipelines
  • Liquids Pipelines
  • Technical Centre

Minimum Qualifications


  • Must be on track to complete a Bachelor of Engineering degree by Spring 2021
  • Up to a maximum of two years of professional discipline-related work experience, not including co-op or internship work terms
  • Must be eligible for registration or already be registered with a Canadian Provincial Association of Professional Engineers (such as APEGA) as Member-In-Training
  • Exhibit a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or a valid work permit


Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to apply engineering principles to identify issues, develop solutions, and recommend improvements
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the oil and gas sector, and especially pipeline industry, is considered an asset
  • Aptitude for development of leadership, management and decision-making skills are an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment with changing priorities under tight time constraints
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving capability
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate and interact with other groups
  • Resilient and self-motivated
  • Passion for excellence, backed by a track record of accountability and integrity
  • Flexible, self-reflective and adaptable to change
