The opportunity
Our Well Engineering and Technology team is seeking a senior level Engineer who has knowledge and experience to lead an engineering team, provide the engineering expertise necessary to design, build, and operate gas storage fields, and assure storage well integrity and field performance. Position specific skills will be developed through mentoring and task assignments.  The successful candidate will have an outstanding ability to organize, schedule and supervise company personnel and equipment, contractors and vendors in well construction and operational activities.

What you'll do
•    Provide oversight and performance management for department well engineers and technicians to assure well work project quality in alignment with the Quality Management Program/Project Delivery Standard and cost management reporting and governance.
•    manage project stages and approvals within designated Authorized Signing Level;
•    manage change documents to govern project costs and objective variances;
•    manage cost forecasting/reporting to verify accuracy and visibility of project estimates and budgets to project scope/objectives; show continual improvement through productivity measurements, project/program metrics and benchmarks, schedule, resourcing, planning, and cost performance analysis;
•    Provide technical services related to design, construction, maintenance, and abandonment of TC Energy’s storage wells
•    Assist in formulation of Storage Technical Services capital and O&M programs, advise as to facility condition and recommend additions, modification or replacements
•    Develop drilling, completion, reconditioning, re-drilling, stimulation, and plugging job plans and cost estimates; Select, design and monitor upgrades and construction of access roads and well sites
•    Specify materials and services including but not limited to; wellhead components, valves, casing, tubing, packers, drilling, service rig, coiled tubing, snubbing, logging/perforating, cementing, fishing, stimulation, etc.
•    Monitor and supervise (as needed) well construction activities
•    Conduct and/or assist in facility failure investigation, determine probable cause and recommend remedial action
•    Conduct and/or assist in facility performance and optimization evaluations
•    Monitor accuracy of well data, ensure well work is accurately documented and complies with document retention processes
•    Assist in risk management activities including hazard-barrier identification and assessment, quantitative risk analysis, risk evaluation and treatment, review and approve storage well risk management plans
•    Prepare and submit Federal notifications and State well work permit applications and work with Land Services and outside contractors to obtain necessary abstracts, title work and surveyor’s well plats
•    Support preparation of regulatory filings for PHMSA and the FERC.
•    Prepare and submit post-construction Federal and State completion reports
•    Work directly with personnel engaged in operation and maintenance of storage facilities, discuss operation and maintenance problems with managers, supervisors and employees
•    Develop and conduct storage well diagnostics and investigations, analyze problems, determine cause, develop alternative solutions, select optimum alternative and recommend to managers
•    Monitor and observe foreign drilling operations affecting storage assets; Protect Company’s storage integrity, verify foreign operations’ compliance with company’s drill-through procedures
•    Act as a liaison with other departments on projects that could affect storage operations, reviews the projects to determine problems and recommend alternatives; Review designs, procedures, work orders, maps and drawings to assure compliance with TC Energy’s policies
•    Review, revise, and develop TC Energy Engineering Specifications, Engineering Procedures and Operating Procedures related to well drilling and servicing work
•    Provide process safety engineering support by reviewing job preparation practices, on-site work practices, engineering standards, and integrity plans related to well drilling and servicing work
•    Assist in preparation and attend PHMSA audits
•    Provide emergency response support for storage well emergencies
•    Other tasks as required
Minimum qualifications
•    Four-year degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering preferred
•    10 or more years of experience with oil and gas wellsite design and operations
•    Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and communicate results
•    Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access)
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred qualifications
•    Experience in drilling, well servicing, stimulation, production, and abandonments
This position requires candidates to
•    Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record;
•    Successfully complete a pre- employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
•    Be available for extended work hours/days, and callouts as needed; extended workweeks in excess of 20 hours per week during construction may be required
•    Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
•    Work around heavy equipment and other hazards typical at construction sites, 70% office environment, 30% in the field in various weather conditions
